What is Out & About?
Out & About is TLC's accompanied transport service. A trained TLC carer travels with you in our accessible vehicle and stays with you the whole time: helping you in and out, supporting you at your appointment or around the shops, and seeing you safely home.
It isn't only for wheelchair users. Out & About is for anyone who'd like a helping hand getting out, and the vehicle has full wheelchair access for those who need it. It's open to everyone, not just people who already receive care from TLC.
This isn't a taxi. You always have a carer with you, from the moment we collect you to the moment you're home.
Where can we take you?
Wherever you want to go. Here are a few ideas.
Hospital and medical appointments
Hospital, GP, dentist, optician and clinic visits. Your carer waits with you, helps with forms and can take notes so nothing is missed.
Shopping trips
The weekly supermarket shop, a trip into town or picking out a gift. Your carer helps you get around, reach the shelves and carry the bags.
Days out
The promenade, a garden centre, a favourite café or the beach. Somewhere you used to love, or somewhere new.
Family and social visits
Seeing friends and family, birthdays and celebrations, church, chapel, clubs and groups.
Everyday errands
The bank, post office, hairdresser or library. The things that keep life running smoothly.
Hospital discharge and planned stays
Collected from the ward and settled back at home, or taken to a respite stay or day centre, with support all the way.
How it works
Booking a trip is simple.
Tell us where and when
Fill in our short trip request form with where you'd like to go, the date and time, and any support needs.
We plan the trip
We confirm the timings and the cost, and match you with a carer. We'll ask about your mobility, and any wheelchair or walking aid, so everything is ready.
Door to door, with support
Your carer collects you, travels with you, stays with you throughout and sees you safely home.
Our accessible vehicle
Comfortable for everyone, with full wheelchair access. If you use a wheelchair you can stay in it for the whole journey, and if you don't, there's a comfortable seat and a carer to help you in and out.

Prices, hours and area
Price
£35 an hour, plus mileage
The hourly rate covers your carer's time with you. Mileage is added on top. We'll confirm the full cost before your trip, so there are no surprises.

7am to 9pm
Early hospital appointments, evening family visits and everything in between.
Area
The whole of Conwy County
We collect from anywhere in Conwy County. Need to go further, for example to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd or Ysbyty Gwynedd? Just ask.
