Some people are born to care. Dilwyn is one of them.

This month, the whole TLC family came together to celebrate a remarkable milestone: ten years of compassionate, dedicated service from one of our most beloved carers. In a decade that has seen so much change in the world of domiciliary care, Dilwyn has been a constant: a warm, reliable, expert presence in the lives of dozens of clients and their families across North Wales.

Where it all began

When Dilwyn first joined TLC ten years ago, he arrived with a big heart and no formal care qualifications. "I just knew I wanted to do something that mattered," he told us. "My grandmother had carers towards the end of her life and I saw what a difference the right person could make. I wanted to be that person for someone."

He completed his induction training and, within months, had become a firm favourite with clients and colleagues alike. His supervisor at the time remembers: "Dilwyn had something you can't teach: genuine warmth. He listened. He remembered the little things. Clients looked forward to his visits in a way that went well beyond the care itself."

A decade of milestones

Over ten years, Dilwyn has supported clients through some of the most challenging and tender moments of their lives, helping people return home after hospital, providing companionship during periods of loneliness, and offering dignified personal care to those who needed it most.

He progressed from Care Assistant to Senior Carer within two years, and has since mentored numerous newer members of the TLC team. "Passing on what I've learned is one of the most rewarding parts of the job now," he says.

What his clients say

"Dilwyn is not just my carer, he's my friend. I genuinely don't know what I'd do without him," said one long-term client from Conwy. "He always has a kind word and he never makes me feel rushed. You can tell he really cares."

A family member of another client put it simply: "He treats my dad with complete dignity. Every single day. That means everything to us."

Olwen, one of TLC's founding sisters, led the celebration: "Dilwyn embodies everything we set out to build when we started TLC. He is the reason families trust us. He is the reason clients feel safe and valued. We are so incredibly proud to have him as part of our family, and we know ten years is just the beginning."
