Summary

Our staff receive ongoing training and strong managerial support. The home is well-maintained, and the Responsible Individual (RI) oversees governance, taking feedback from residents and families to enhance the service.

Well-being

Residents have control over their daily lives, with personal plans tailored to their preferences. They participate in decision-making through regular meetings, and their choices in food and activities are respected.

Residents enjoy a variety of activities, including quizzes and religious services. The service is also working towards providing an ‘Active Offer’ of the Welsh language, with staff encouraged to attend language courses.

Residents' health and well-being are a priority, with timely referrals to specialists and collaborative care with external support agencies. Safety measures are in place, and residents are encouraged to maintain independence wherever possible.

Care and Support

Residents receive care tailored to their individual needs. They have autonomy over daily choices such as meals, clothing, and routines. Personal care plans are regularly reviewed to reflect preferences and health requirements.

Pre-assessments ensure new residents integrate well into the home. Staff develop strong relationships with residents, providing warm and attentive care. One resident shared, “Staff always have a smile on their face. They know me, and I know them—we get on very well.”

Meals are well-presented and cater to dietary needs. Residents choose whether to dine in their rooms or communal areas. Staff follow best practices in manual handling and medication administration, with regular audits and competency assessments.

Health concerns are promptly escalated, and staff receive specialized training to meet residents' specific needs. Dental care is prioritized, with the community dental team visiting every three months.

Environment

Chaseley House offers a comfortable and well-maintained living space. All rooms now have ensuite bathrooms, and the décor is bright and homely. Residents can socialize in communal lounges or enjoy privacy in their rooms.

The outdoor garden is well-kept, providing a pleasant space for residents during warmer months. Strict security measures ensure a safe environment, with visitor sign-ins and identification checks.

Regular cleaning ensures high hygiene standards, and robust infection prevention measures are in place. The home meets all safety regulations, including fire and water safety checks, maintaining the highest possible food safety rating.

Leadership and Management

The Responsible Individual (RI) ensures strong governance, regularly visiting the home and gathering feedback from residents and staff. Management conducts regular audits and six-monthly quality-of-care reviews to drive improvements.

Staffing levels are sufficient to meet residents' needs, with thorough vetting and induction processes for new employees. Staff receive ongoing training, supervision, and annual appraisals.

Employees feel valued and supported, with one staff member stating, “I feel valued because they know my strengths and support me to use them and develop in my role.”

The home is financially sustainable, ensuring long-term investment in care quality and resident well-being.
